It was a shock to see him go, admittedly, and it could probably have been handled better, but he had every right to move and right then was apparently the time to do so.
He had the chance to prove himself at a much bigger and better resourced club, and grabbed it.
Yes, he didn't cover himself in glory over Baines and Fellaini, but that's just how it goes sometimes. I'm sure he'd admit that he could probably have been more diplomatic over those episodes.
But, I struggle to understand how people hold such grudges over such a long period of time.
Maybe 6th will indeed be his ceiling at West Ham, who knows, but if he has them competitive in the top half for 11 years and occasionally in with a European run or a genuine shout of a pot or two (whether they take that chance is another matter), then I'm pretty sure a yo-yo club like West Ham will have no problem with that at all.
