If the fans could give him the time he would have us better in a couple of seasons
He plays solid teams, not the most expansive but I personally think he will get results. I think as long as he gets the team playing full blooded systems then we will be attracted to it. I'm not sure I personally expect Brazil 70 to be the style of Everton - I'd be happy with a lot of pressing, wide play, effort, quick passing - something we've been lacking in the last few seasons, since Moyes basically in general (and even then, most of the time). I'm going for an optimistic 6th, I think a lot of teams will be a bit shit.
Benitez has clearly been brought in to shore things and get the wage bill down. This is not going to win him any plaudits and he will be the fall guy when results inevitably see us fall way short of what we claim to aspire to. Not that I'll shed any tears but he really is on a hiding to nothing. What comes afterwards is anyone's guess but all the signs are pointing towards abandoning any pretensions of competing at the top end of the table. To be fair to Moshiri, I think that has very much been his ambition but I reckon that has changed now after parting company with countless millions and having the square root of #### all to show for it. Perhaps he's now just looking at making the club an attractive proposition for potential buyers.
All just conjecture, I will readily admit.
The balance the books rhetoric is coming thick and fast now. Like or loathe the manager, a number of these individuals who will be "bigged up" over the next two weeks will lose him his job. As with previous managers, his faith will be mis-placed.
Sorry for the lack of optimism
