tbh i'm starting to wonder if The Magazine of the Sierra Club really got down
to the right level of detail in their analysis.
considering the average length of a bison is about 3 meters, and the length of the equator is about 40 million meters, then something something maths. I failed.
20-30 million bison are enough to circle the equator if laid nose to tail.
In the early 1700s, North America was home to an estimated 20 million to 30 million bison, more than enough to circle the equator if laid nose to tail. https://www.sierraclub.org/sierra/2021-2-summer/feature/bison-and-blackfeet
If I'd had to guess I'd have been surprised if they'd spanned the United States.
