Re: I haven't seen AWB linked with us anywhere. This is just my personal preference
Sorry I meant an outlier in sense of points gained vs goals scored not the original way I stated.
Yeah heís rock solid defensively I agree but he offers nothing going forward hence Utd looking at potential options there. We need much more creativity and goal threat. Dumfries would compliment Townsend (assuming we donít buy another winger) and offer the balance that Benitez would require.
Last season was an outlier in the sense we performed way over in terms of goals scored vs points gained. Since Lukaku left we average 47 goals per season. Itís not an exact science of course but each goal roughly equates to a point gained once the season is complete. Weíre smack bang midtable based on that.
I doubt he'd provide the same output going forward as Dumfries. But AWB is an incredible defender and his addition would shore up our right hand side.
And in the unlikely eventuality that we retained James for another season, AWB would be the perfect player to have behind him. Obviously that's also based on the assumption we line up like we did last season.
But you're absolutely correct about valuation. I'd be surprised if he cost less than £30 million. Money we currently don't appear to have.
If we canít afford Dumfries how would be able to buy a considerably more expensive AWB? (Has AWB actually been linked?)
They are also (albeit from the limited amount Iíve seen of Dumfries) seemingly completely opposite types of full back. Would be strange going for him if a Dumfries type was what we actually wanted.
Of course it's all just speculation until something happens. But i'm really hoping Man Utd sign Trippier so we can swoop on AWB.
