Yes, quite, plus we are in the shit with salaries and FFP. Makes no sense to keep
never mind the the fact that at the start of the season there was talk of there being an escape clause and rumblings of discontent with the transfer plans. That's not focused on now, just the manager! Strange that..
And that's the point. We have no similar plan B to put into action when Rodriguez is inevitability out for parts of a season.
We'd all love to be able to have him contribute to our season, but given that everything goes through such a player and we have no viable alternative to call upon, surely it's better to build a team / system structure, for now at lease, that's more sustainable?
it is a damning indictment on a manager to say that him being available makes the side worse.
Yes, his lack of pace exposes our deficiencies at right back, but fix that then.
It shouldn't be beyond the wit of a very well paid manager with Everton's resources to find a system and players that would best use James.
Wonderful player but you need to build your team around him. Last season once others figured out the weaknesses he created in the team our gameplan went to shit and Ancelotti had to start playing defensively.
Unlikes Ancelotti, Benitez is a systems man. It's just very hard to see how James could fit. And he's 30 and injury-prone so building the system to fit him would not be a good idea.
He is a lovely player so I don't want to see him go either but I can see the reasoning.
