I remember Latchford scoring 3 and beating Coventry 6-0, actually I lie, we were in the car park, to avoid the crush, when he got the 6th and his hatrick. Not my first game. 1977
I remember losing 3-1 to Villa and secretly crying in the car on the way home. Hated Villa and Withe for years. Not my first game. 1981 Iíd been to a number of games by this point but never seen them lose
There were no replica kits. My Mum was brilliant, still is, sewed an Everton badge and a number 8 on a royal blue shirt. I was McKenzie on the back field
I went to the game for the first time without my Dad in August 1985. Night game against West Brom. Stood with my mate Max, right at the front of the Gwladys Street. The lights were really bright the grass incredibly green. I could almost touch the players, see the water spray of the turf. We won, I was utterly hooked. My life as a school kid was divided between watching Everton and waiting to watch Everton.
Magical times. The addiction was fun then, kept me alive in every sense. Twice this week Iíve stayed up till the early hours with work the next day, for pre-season friendlys! Glad I never got into drugs, I imagine itís a similar experience
