Indeed. Both were poor. You sadly missed the best part. We controlled the 2nd half and if we were...
.....more clinical we'd have won easily.
That did coincide with many of the changes. Gordon and Broadhead both looked lively and dangerous. And Gibson did well.
If one or two of these youngsters can step up, we'll be able to bring some £££ back in offloading the likes of Holgate, Davies, Iwobi even Gomes.
My brother in law works with a relative of Rhys Hughes (Welsh midfielder) and he's indicated Rafa's been very keen on looking at the Under 23's and getting them involved with the first team to see how they fare.
It is of course only pre-season, but Holgate seemed to pick up from where he left off last season with terrible distribution from the back. Godfrey was poor in that regard too.
This applies to the first half only mind you. I fell asleep at half time.
Nonetheless it again hints at our desperate need for a composed leader at centre half. That could be Mina.
Lots of positives with the only real negatives mediocre showings from Iwobi and Gomes, despite the pass for the penalty. I can see Iwobi being moved on but as others have indicated, Benitez will rightly believe he can get a tune out of Gomes.
Despite all the craziness that seems to surround the club these days, I suddenly feel a lot better about what the team could do under Rafa.
And although its not the way we would have wanted him to leave, we wont miss Gylfi. Lots of good options for that role.
...Broadhead and Gordon looked lively in the 2nd half.
Not sure I can cope with Gbamin being fouled in any way whatsoever! Heart was in my mouth ha ha ha
A good little run out, and great to see Bobby Chariot still in work as their manager...
How's ya diddlin'?!?
Well bloody sod yer then!
