Yes, of course there ARE some who think and behave like that, but there are others in the group that would never accept Benitez that simply don't accept his explanation to Carragher about his "small club" comment being misinterpretated (I don't accept it either as it goes) and some who don't buy red clothes, cars, trainers, Christmas decorations or ANYTHING to do with "that lot".
Is it rational? No, but tribalism isn't, and it still doesn't put those people into your "moronic dickheads being aggressive on social media and scrawling on bedsheets" category - they are just passionate Evertonians who are sick of Liverpool taking the piss out of us for decades - and this woud give them even MORE ammo to do so???
If it was January and we were bottom of the league and we had just sacked our manager then that might be different - but that's not the situation and this would be a hugely divisive appointment if it went ahead. He would be on a hiding to nothing and so would the board.
