Look at the team Benitez left. Does that look like a good one? nt
Doesn't bother me who recruits as long as we do well on the pitch
And if you are comparing Everton and our board to Newcastle then you may want to do a bit more research. They optimise an unambitious disinterested board while, despite many people thoughts to the contrary, our board is very ambitious, forward thinking but have made terrible decisions when it has come to managing the team since they took over.
Didn't that lot spend years to fix things after he left?
In China he managed 29 regular season matches, which he won 8. In Newcastle during the two PL seasons he won 12 matches on both seasons.
He spent six seasons at the loo and this is the team he left: https://www.transfermarkt.com/fc-liverpool/startseite/verein/31/saison_id/2009
That's a lot of dross. And he doesn't apparently work well with a DoF.
If it happens its a pretty bad appointment as he's an ex-Red and it will cause huge division and some will never take to him, even if we do well.
However we need stability and someone who will see the job through and given his ties locally it's a dream job. He may not have done much since Liverpool but I believe he can build something over 3/4/5 years as we have a core of very good players.
He's bot who I want but I can see the logic.
Firstly there's the consistency in manager style. Because Carlos style was great
He's a safe pair of hands. His appointment should at least offer some sort of guarantee that we'll preserve our premier league status. Lovely
And there is maybe a pattern here. Moshiris dream manager is Simeone, so he clearly loves a plucky underdog, stoic defending counter attacking style. Could Rafa just be keeping the hotseat warm for a couple of years, while we steadily climb the table, making us a more attractive proposition for Simeone in a couple of years.
FFS Everton what have you done
Its actually a poorer appointment than Allardyce.
Why do we keep appointing these dinosaurs because they won something 15 years ago
Should we see what Sir Alex is up to these days as I believe he has a good CV
Goodison will be toxic next season
If we aren't going to win anything then at least I want to be entertained -that's not going to happen
We should be getting linked with the same managers as Spurs. Spurs wouldn't touch Benitez. Are we appointing him cos he lives local ? Seems a bizarre recruitment ploy if it is
Then again some fans want Martinez cos he is a nice man
And others want Ferguson cos he is a passionate blue
How about getting someone who might just be very good at their job, who we know play decent footy
Occasionally you have to take a punt like Spurs did with Pochettino, even like Liverpool did with Rodgers - did they have gliterring trophy filled CVs, no they didn't.
Spurs will appoint Potter and we will look back next season on what we could have won
