Recovery position was spot on since, according to reports, he was still breathing. By the time the medics arrived, he was still breathing and still had a pulse.
Happy to be corrected here but my recollection is:
You canít swallow your tongue, so although itís very important that Kjaer checked his airway that isnít quite the same thing as making sure he didnít swallow his tongueÖ (unless itís widely understood that ďdidnít swallow his tongueĒ is shorthand for ďmade sure there was no obstruction in his airwayĒ)
And Iíve also seen people say that he put him in the recovery position, which I was told is a common mistake, since the recovery position should only be used once the patient is recovering. Before CPR they should be on their back, not on their side.
