end of the day, he's 24, and has managed 2 goals and 3 assists so far this season when our midfield has been decidedly mediocre most of the time, and he never hides even when he's having a bad game. he's not completely crap - just not quite working out for us at present, which is shame for all involved. having said that, there's still a chance he could yet come good with the right players around him (his numbers at arsenal were all really good) and/or some coaching to help him make better decisions on the pitch.
me, i think brands did far worse with delph (although again, that *should* have been a good signing on paper) and lossl and sidibe were a bit on the dodgy side (albeit both on loan, so minimal damage done there). otherwise, there's moise kean who was a young kid, didn't settle with us, and has gone on loan and done superbly this season elsewhere. while he might not work out for us, we should still make some money on him so arguably that's still a good signing.
imo, we've not had consistently solid signings since moyes. brands has at least brought that back.
certainly, compared to the days of walsh - klaasen, vlasic, ramirez, martina, bolasie (although that was injury, so perhaps unfair), schneiderlin, williams, tosun, walcott - it's a massive step up in recruitment terms.
