I suspect that we will see soon enough…
The American owners will certainly want to see it through and as they have little or no contact with the city, they have a degree of immunity to the current backlash. However, if Klopp and Henderson or other players move further and fans step up their opposition, cracks could begin to show. Liverpool have a home game at the weekend and I expect the protests to be massive.
And I hope that such pressures do lead to them pulling out, because I think we have to put some of our tribalism aside as the priority is to bring down this ESL project as it will destroy the game, notwithstanding any of our "King of the rest" dreams. Incidentally, I can see one or two of the other clubs getting cold feet.
I've no idea why City would have agreed it originally other than FOMO and would expect them as a club to be the least committed BUT would expect the pressure from Anfield Red Sox fans, players and staff to be too much for their owners and financiers in the end.
For which the will come out of it the least tarred, As much as I've zero time for Henderson he would have to get a little respect just for sticking his big ugly head out the tent.
The redsh*te will be the first to pull out of this ESL sh*tshow and it will be spun as a great victory for 'Hendo and Klopp'. Henderson is already being praised for convening a meeting of Premier League captains.
