Jewish can mean of the Jewish faith, but also, of the race of Jews. David Baddiel describes himself as a Jew, he is also not religious
During WW2, Jews werent persecuted for their religious beliefs. It was the race of Jews that were subject to genocide.

In the case of the Jews the two things appear to be virtually interchangeable. Historically, each has been a cause and consequence of the other.
The tendency is to conflate islamophobia as racism is false, though. Islam is a belief system, not a race. You can object to a Muslim’s views without seeming to denigrate his race. That appears to be much harder with Jews. Previous Message
