Again, I struggle to see that he is a particularly quick thinker
He obviously is less able to find creative options than Sigurdsson and James, in fact, I donít find hin to be more creative in terms of passing than ANY of our offensive players. He is one of the better dribblers though, but unfortunately with little end product. That leaves me to think that he is neither a particularly quick thinker nor suited to be a playmaker.
With that being said, he is not the worst option to have as a squad player.
it suggests that perhaps his lack of end-product isn't necessarily him but the lack of movement around him from the team.
given how much that report praises his quick thinking (as did wenger, and i vaguely recall carlo's said similar a few times) i wonder if it only looks like he's making poor decisions because of the lack of movement elsewhere in the team. after all, no movement means he's got nothing to work with. perhaps what he needs is decent movement around him to make the best use of his talents? we all know our movement is crap most of the time - ball to feet rather than into space, and passing backwards or sideways most of the time. we certainly didn't do much in the first half last night, so he'd have nothing to work with, and to our eyes he would have looked like he was giving us nothing...
