Solksjaer's managerial experience perhaps worked against him, so maybe he's in that category too.
I think Gerrard's doing something similar to Lampard, which is manage at a club below the level he wants to be at, because he wants to prove himself at that level, and gain experience before landing a top job.
Of course it's a bit of a fix because neither of them could possibly do enough in those jobs to become legitimate contenders for the Chelsea or Liverpool jobs based on their work as managers. But unless they majorly #### up they're giving those owners a stronger case to go for them.

Key factors:
- Pressure is mounting on Klopp, he looks beleaguered, he's already achieved immense success at Liverpool, and may figure it's time to take a different challenge (with a team at a different point in their "cycle")
- Owners need Champions League football, and if they worry it won't come this season they may make a move. And if they don't get it this season they may change in the summer
- Gerrard is doing well enough at Rangers to be considered
Assuming that we all share the same goal of an LFC implosion and becoming a laughing stock,
