What qualified him for the job in the first place though, really?
A season at derby? It was a massive gamble. In most games he's up against the sort of tactical knowhow that the likes of our own manager has, or at least managers who've seen it all at different levels, what experience and knowledge does he have to draw on?
Unsurprisingly, his team looks like a collection of expensive and talented individuals lacking the sort of tactical coherence and adaptability from game to game that is now essential.
It might work if they stick with him and allow him to learn on the job, as he seems a decent and enough chap willing to learn, but that was never going to be permitted at Chelsea.
....to deliver. Is 18 months long enough?
5th round of the cup, still in the Champions League and with some winnable league games in the next 6 weeks a chance to climb the table.
It still amazes me that managers aren't given time when history shows that those that are often produce results. Wenger, great example, much maligned for lack of trophies in the latter years of his Arsenal role but what they'd now for someone who could pretty much guarantee them top 4.
