Re: Only a few weeks to the next transfer window
Yeah, it's a marathon not a sprint etc.
But I do agree to wait for the right quality of player. No point packing the squad full of players that essentially probably aren't up to it.
It just feels like we're more considered now.
There was a massive clamour to make signings last Xmas, but Carlo held on for the ones he wanted.
I'm sure he didn't fancy King etc, so kept his powder dry and went with what we have. I'm sure if the right cover is there next window, they'll be in. It'll be tight, but Richarlison can switch up top if DCL is off it or out.
In Carlo We Trust!
True, and we're well covered in defence and midfield, squad-wise, but a knock for DCL or even just him having a one-off stinker of a game and Ancelotti wanting to freshen things up. What then is / are our option(s) for the next 3 matches?
We're desperately light up top.
Although he's a wonderful talent, he can still go missing in games, he's still petulant (see Saturday) and although clearly not the same level, we have options in Gyli, Iwobi, Bernard and Gordon. In short, its why we have a squad.
Agree that it was our worst performance of the season, but Liverpool made it that way. They were superior in their pressing and the accuracy and effectiveness of their passing. It left us chasing shadows at times.
The positive, of course, is that we came away from the game with a point, and twice came from behind to do so.
Next test: How do we cope without the drive, goals and brilliant dynamism of Richarlison for the next 3 matches?
we created hardly any chances for DCL and Richarlison, Doucoure, Allan and Gomes all struggled.
The fact we scored two headers, should highlight to every team that plays against LFC this season where they are weak now.
Has Pickford Heyseled Liverpool?
VVD is by far their most important player, losing him is going to have a huge impact not just on their defensive soldity, but their build up play and their confidence. Not to mention the opposition are now going to be mosre confident about getting a result against them.
Has Pickfords challenge basically prevented LFC from enjoying a period of sustained success and hastened Klopp's investible return to Germany.
