for a couple of seasons he has looked like the only midfield player capable of creating anything....now he looks like the only one who isnt.
I hope Im wrong but his patchy form, combined with just how poorly he was rated in Spain, suggests he just hasnt got enough for a top club.
I agree that Richarlison hasn't been firing on all cylinders this season, yet, but even so, just look at him busting a gut to get back and defend on so many occasions. If it's not happening so much at the top end of the pitch, then at least make your contribution count somewhere out there. And I think he has. He'll be missed for the next month, no question about that.
As you say, a rest should see him back, fired up and with a point to prove.
Pretty sure it'll be Iwobi for the foreseeable though, not Gordon. And in which case, I'd play Sigurdsson in place of Gomes too. Greater chance of him pitching in with a goal than our (currently) rather lethargic Portuguese playmaker. And without Richarlison, we need to ensure that we're maximising the potential of goals from the rest of the team.
...the drive he's had so far this season - he was clearly far from fit.
Just look at the shot DCL had in the first half at the near post. A fit Richarlison - the one you describe - is busting a gut to get in the middle but he was just jogging in.
I think a 3-game break will do him good and get him fully fit again - as I said in the poll yesterday, the only replacement with anywhere near the same amount of energy and drive is Anthony Gordon so I'd go with him.
