Re: Depends on their attitude
You mention the Everton 'team' there. If it's just a first choice XI question, then I'd probably only consider Barkley for Gomes. Yes, there's baggage with Barkley, but he's a more effective player than Gomes in terms of assists and goals.
But if it's a squad question, like you say, if the attitude of these players is right, then all (bar Stones) would be good additions, and lead to the departure of a few of our current squad players in the process.
Definite no for Gueye as I think his age and discipline (chasing after the ball needlessly) go against him.
Stones could do a job, but I think we have better young defenders in Holgate / Godfrey who can play the ball out comfortablty .... so no thanks.
Lookman is an undoubted talent .... but his thinking seems flawed and I doubt of Carlo would want him sulking around the place.... so no thanks.
Lukaku .... great finisher and would certainly bag us goals in our current set up. If he could be guaranteed to apply himself ... then yes he would be a big asset.
Barkley ..... another with a history of poor decisions on and off the pitch. He certainly has the talent to drive a team forward. I think he has burned his bridges at Goodison and his defensive game is non existant as he drifts around the pitch .... so its a hesitant no thanks.
Looking at the above, I think its clear that the current Everton team is extremely disciplined in its approach thanks to Carlo. Everyone knows their job and works together, the clarity of vision that exists is down to the Manager and his staff ..... I doubt they would put up with the inconsistency that exists in most of your ex blues.
