I've not tried it but a mate of mine swears by cherry extract- no wind up- he reckons its great nt
I used to take colchicine for gout but now just take naproxen if I have a flare up.
standard anti inflams are the equivalent a sausage up the m1 for me if I have an acute attack.
...the colchicine is the "gout meds" I was referring to and yes, it's the unpleasant side-effects that stop him from taking them - he has several conditions but his kidneys are the main issue.
He went to see the nurse with it yesterday (as she wanted to just prescribe him codeine over the phone but I wanted her to see it in case it wasn't gout)- she still wasn't sure, so prescribed him both codeine AND antibiotics (floxacillin "just in case it's not gout" which I wasn't delighted about!)
He doesn't drink alcohol any more, and has limits on his fluid intake due to his kidney issues - red meat is still happening but not overly so, so I guess we'll just have to try to cope with it.
I'll maybe try to get a GP appointment if it doesn't calm down - thanks for that feedback though mate, really appreciate it.
