as their defenders have actually scored a load more goals than their strikers !
However 2 points - on the one hand our injuries have made our subs bench threadbare but consequently why then make them ?
Surely a half knackered (and why are they knackered ?) Kean and Bernard are better than a fully fit Niasse and Davies, certainly at retaining the ball
They all should have been aware that Newcastle had the belief that they can score late, because they'd done it only last week against Chelsea.
many on here have questioned his substitutions recently, but they managed to get us over the line in tight games.
i wasn't sure whether:
a) he's an Italian, understands game management, perhaps a bit cautious but knows how to bag the 3 points
b) we shouldn't be killing time against the likes of Brighton and Burnley at home, in order to sneak a 1-0 win.
last night suggests that we might have been a bit lucky previously, and we have issus to address. but then again I can't help but think that if we were winning 1-0 we would have taken the points last night. Newcastle were done, and even brought a defender on for a forward. I know our substitutions were still defensive but our attitude didn't seem to be. At 2-0 we seemed quite confidence, too complacent. If it were 1-0 we'd have been more switched on, more cute, etc.
it seemed like the Anfield game were Ancelotti was more "show me what you've got" rather than "here's how we'll play". I'm hoping this is all part of his diagnostics, and will speed up his planning and preparation for next season.
