the fact that some of these players are well known to be weak and have let us down badly in the past and yet again quite recently.
At 2-0 against a side that had no ambition to win the game, we changed a winning side and suddenly started retreating. Taking Kean off and replacing him with a right back was the first mistake as it left DCL up on his own against three centre backs and he was never going to get support from our static midfield.
Putting Tom Davies on for Bernard also deserves to be questioned ..... Bernard is a creative player who was running at the opposition all night, Tom is never going to play in the same way. With Delph and Sniedy in the middle, Tom was always going to struggle to find a role on the pitch.
As for Oumar Naisse..... the guy is a joke. He is the Norman Wisdom of the game, innocent, clumsy and falling around with absolutely no quality or end produce in terms of teamwork. Carlo could have picked a fan from the crowd and would have had a better return than throwing that galloping idiot onto the pitch.
Ancelotti knows the players at this stage, he must know the team is weak under any high ball, yet he handed the initiative to Newcastle .... I sincerely hope this is his way of showing the Board that he needs to spend now as what he's working with is nowhere near good enough. Why else would we see so many weak players get a game.
