I don't think Gallardo is unattainable
Right now nothing indicates to me that we've even asked, let alone are in for him, which is a shame given what a good fit his profile seems to be.
Ancelotti I don't think would come here, I don't think he'd consider anyone in the Prem apart from the Sky 4 + spurs + City.
Every fan again having their opinion on who we should appoint. Some are either clueless or trolling but there's still a lot to ponder.
There are many factors to consider but for and foremost the manager should fit whatever style Brands and the board decided on last year. If they again hire someone who doesn't fit that model for some reason then we can scratch off the last 18 months again and start the next rebuilding process.
But with just Silva as the case study it's impossible to tell what that style might be. I still think we can dismiss some rumours based just on this.
Then there''s the risk/reward consideration. Some managers are higher risk than others but also a much higher potential upside. Gallardo is the prime example of this. Potentially he could turn up to be one of the great managers in Europe but Premier League is a totally different world to Primera.
Marcelino's style would be something similar to what we saw on Saturday. 4-4-2, very compact, quick counters. But he's obviously also a risk, even though maybe not as big as he has experience in a competitive league but I don't think his potential reward is as high as Gallardo's either. His teams have done well in La Liga but that's about it.
Those two would appear to be the most likely candidates in reality unless Brands pulls a rabbit out of the hat. He probably has talked to more people and Marcelino might not after all be meeting our reps in London. Gallardo might actually have better options in front of him.
But I really, really can't see why we'd approach someone like Pereira. Even worse stats than Silva and less experience. Plus he's on a huge contract in China.
I also can't see either Jardim or Ragnick being interested. And I agree Ancelotti would be a big risk and I just can't see us being interested.
After reading on Emery's issues I would be surprised if he's on our radar as well.
