although admittedly, that is a small sample size and consists of voters the Labour Party software calculates are probably open to voting for them. I think voting intentions vary by region perhaps to a greater extent than ever before. The Tories are likely to be wiped out once more in Scotland and do badly in London, but outside of that will probably fare very well in Leave voting areas. On balance, I think the latter is likely to outweight the first two.
Nobody knows for sure, of course. My feeling is that Johnson is heading for a small majority of around 20 seats. Needless to say, I hope I'm wrong. Remain voters are coming back to Labour at the expense of the Lib Dems who have fought a pretty uninspiring campaign. Tactical voting is the only thing that can deprive Johnson of his majority, so while I have no time for the LDs generally, I am hoping their vote share in those blue v yellow marginals holds up.
I know exactly what you mean about having your faith in humanity broken. I feel nauseous at the prospect of the exit poll on Thursday night telling us we have 5 years of this disgustingly dishonest, lazy, venal, incompetent, narcisstic moral vacuum to look forward to. I don't believe though that the majority that intend to vote Tory are bad people - some vote out of self-interest (whether that is perceived or real), some from ignorance - just not that interested in politics, some from stupidity (sorry, but it's true), some because they think Brexit trumps all other issues.
I will hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
I know we're all in our bubbles, including me, but I just cannot understand who are this 45% that are actively CHOOSING to have Boris Johnson as the Prime Minister? And where are they?
I know Corbyn is poison for some, I've had a couple saying that on doorsteps in Cardiff (mainly in uber-rich Llanishen), but they always say 'Can't vote for Boris either'.
I can't quite believe that there are FIFTY PERCENT more people in this country who want this gang of Dickensian villains and that corrupt, vile blonde haired sack of potatoes in charge of us than want the Labour Party. I could understand it with Theresa May cos there was this sense among my parents generation that she may be a charisma vacuum but 'she is a good, honest woman and has our best interests at heart'. But this fcuking fraud????
I woke up this morning, saw the polls, and felt completely crushed. Faith in humanity destroyed. But the more I think about it, the more I simply do not believe that the polls are accurate.
No way. The pollsters haven't weighted correctly for young vote turnout, for tactical voting, for overall turnout.
It's going to be closer than 45/31, expect three days of the most frantic smearing and social media dark arts since November 2016 in the USA.
