Some players are scapegoated but others become a point for some fans to decide they are brilliant and then ignore evidence to the contrary Let's call this Davy Klaassen syndrome.
Calvin Lewin has shown in flashes he has ability to lead the line. It seems to be that happens when we play a more direct style and he can use his speed and size to battle and win the ball.
When we play a possession based game he becomes passive and negative. Doing the opposite of yesterday, as in many games he has come off with the opposition CBs hardly feeling they have been in a game
He is also not a natural finisher plus he doesn't take up good positions in the box. Many times when the ball comes into the box he is not in a position to score.
Bringing this together if he is going to play then we need to play a more direct style to get the best out of him. Additionally he will be at his best with other players who can score. Bernard, Iwobi, Bernard, Walcott and this season Siggy aren't goal scorers. Hence he struggles
To get into top 6 you need a top forward and DCL isn't yet and at 22 might never be. However he can be extremely effective if we play to his strengths.
The next manager needs to decide as if we take on another possession based coach I expect Dominic to struggle
