Very much the same. Whole atmosphere was very different and so mich better.
A decent iedfield and we would have bossed it even more but credit where it is due.
Left Goodison with a smile on my face, a first in a while.
Agree with all your points - Sidibe was superb.
DCL bullied their defense - if he can do that with regularity he’ll be a proper handful. Excellent in the air. Still struggles with his first touch but Rom was the same earlier on in his career.
Tom D looked a yard off the pace - but he battled hard, as did each and every one of them. Not sure even when fully fit he has enough pace for the PL.
The GP atmosphere was a real key today. But the players’ attitude was a major factor in that. Chelsea have some quality ball players. But they just weren’t as up for the physical side today. Frank said as much post match.
As the third goal went in there was an air of “Is this really happening to us!!?” with an absolute delirious headiness that goes with the ‘I was there’ feeling.
Finally - we decided we don’t like VAR - particularly watching live.
It changes the feel/atmosphere massively.
But today that doesn’t really matter. Well in Dunc.
Well in the Blues.
Onwards and upwards hopefully.
Lots of pace and aggression first half. We chased them down and have them little space. Both teams had chances but what a difference.
Second half dropped off after they scored and we reverted to type a little. Totally bemused we hen Davies came on for Richarlison. The former is a lost boy in a man's game. The latter caused them problems all game and rightly looked pissed off when subbed. That gave them more momentum and I was very nervous until DCL hit the third. Even then I thought we would lose the goal to VAR.
Special mention to Sidibe who was immense. A real shift put in tackling, positional sense, and width going forward. MOM for me
All in all, a great day. Hoarse and coughing lots due to screaming all game but well worth it
