I am sure that addressing the waste of the early Moshiri years was the DoF's first priority. Brands has done a lot of that squad thinning.
The playing squad he inherited was poor and bloated.
But there has been no sign of a block on spending;Gomes, Kean, Iwobi and Gbamin were all significant fees. Sadly, and for different reasons they're not doing much. That might lead us to question Brands' judgement and/or rue our luck.
Silva is nearly half way through his contract. I see no indication he has impressed anybody within the hierarchy. Firing him and three coaches would be buttons. About the equivalent of what we pay to supplement Besic, Sandro and Bolassie.
I think he got through this latest spell not through poverty but to arrest the reputation of having a revolving door on the manager's office.
It has been chaotic but we all felt it would take
numerous windows to resolve and so it is proving.
Any good DoF would know the managers they would target when available. And however black you paint it, its one of the twenty most lucrative club roles in world football.
