It has twindled down and is not so popular anymore.
Long-distance running used to be a big thing thanks to guys like Paavo Nurmi and Lasse Viren and many others and that was an issue for a long time.
Ski-jumping was big when I was young. The Middle European tour which is held around the turn of the year was a must watch and obviously we had Matti Nykänen one of the greatest ever.
Not as strong as they used to be.
#1 was never winning a medal in the icehockey WC. This was fixed in 1992 (although we won Olympic silver in 1988) and the big one in 1995 with gold.
#2 Was not winning the Eurovision song contest. This was sorted by Lordi in 2007.
#3 is the fact Finland has never played in any football world or european cups. A win tomorrow would fix that.
Nice write-up in the Guardian. Will my adopted home country finally qualify for a tournament. Seems small, but it would mean a lot.
