just want someone to tell them what they want to hear, something they agree with, and they want their side to win irrespective of consequence

so when Trump says build a wall to keep out Mexicans, they cheer
when he shouts drain the swamp, they cheer, even though he is the swamp
when he says he has created more jobs than anyone, they cheer, even if its not true
when he says he has a high IQ and scored top scores at school, they dont care that its not true, it sounds good for a president who they like to say it, so they cheer

Its about picking a side and winning
That matters more than anything
Cost irrelevant, winning is everything

With Trump when anything gets a little bit close to the bone, he'll mention God and they'll just nod along, some think thankfully, that doesnt apply over here, we have more separation of religion and politics, not as much as we perhaps should, but their rhetoric is moving towards divine right absolutism which is scary.

Its a cult
just like some of Brexit (who want it at any cost)
just like some Corbyn supporters (who idolise him and dont question him)
just like some LFC fans (who wont ever hear their club criticised)

The people behind Trump, are very good at managing the cult of Trump, I dont think he is bright enough to really see whats going on, he's a vessel, going along with it, because he gets $$$$ Thats not to absolve him, but its a bit like Farage - Farage is pretty horrible, but he only exists because Arron Banks funds him. Farage provides the charisma, Banks provides the funds because he himself has the charisma of a dead slug.

Hopefully we arent heading towards a monstrous war in the next decade.
