Going back to Clegg. The lack of commitment to public spending is a great principle for them to coalesce around. If they meant their wishy washy words about social reform, it might be different. But laissez-faire economics has always seemed more important to them than doing anything about inequality. Liberal can mean a lot of things to a lot of people.
I remember Laughing Boy/Johannes Borgen predicting the Condem coalition in 2010 when everyone, including me, was certain it wouldn't happen. Thy showed their true colours there.

best way to grub votes off Tory Remainers.
Labour have been trying to stand in the way of a hard Brexit since 2016, and have been opposed by the Lib Dems every step of the way. First they said it was a simple rerun of the first vote they wanted, even if it risked no deal. Now Labour support a public vote on a known deal involving a close relationship with the EU, it's not good enough and we have to revoke.
LDs are far more concerned with re-inflating their vote share than stopping Johnson and his goons. Previous Message
....tactical voting I suspect exists in a minority bubble of people who read a lot about politics.
If a hard Brexit is to be reliably stopped Corbyn and Swinson need to put country before party and do some sort of deal, even if its standing down in just 20-30 seats each. Previous Message
...I’m no huge fan of a Corbyn or some of Labour’s proposed policies but if people want to stop the Tories then it’s perfectly possible by voting for the strongest opposition in each seat.
If the UK elects Johnson with a majority then it sadly deserves everything that brings. Previous Message
Johnson and Farage pact would appear to me to put Torys in better position in election.
Can you imagine two more detestable pricks as those and also having the backing of Trump.
God help us all....
