Our daughter, Parker, is 20 months now so we’re just starting to get ‘real’ language and communication. Not full conversations but (some!) understanding and interaction on a different level, where she now responds and puts words together to form mini sentences/questions. That’s been amazing and you can see how happy she is when you understand her - she beams from ear to ear and will sometimes clap/dance on the spot. She’s also starting to tease...she’ll often hold out some of her food for me, as if she’s going to feed me, and just as she reaches to put it in my mouth she’ll slowly pull it away with the biggest mischievous grin on her face.
It’s still heart-melting when I pick her up from daycare in the evening and she runs to me screaming ‘Dadda!!!’ The unconditional happiness and love is incredible.
My personal favourite thing tho is something she only does with me, which is we’ll put our faces close together and I’ll say ‘Parker; nose to nose’ and she pushes her nose into mine, eyes wide open and going cross-eyed as she watches our noses touch. Silly little things but already feels like our special bond.
I’m besotted with her, tbh 😄
Seeing such positive responses to db's post about potential impending fatherhood, it reminded me of a lovely day last year when everyone posted what made them happy.
So along those lines...
What's your favourite thing about being a dad?
