I'll never forget watching Star Wars Episodes IV, V & VI with my lad for the first time when he was 4. Now he's 12, he's ready to graduate to Top Gun, Die Hard, The Bourne Identity, etc. Good times.
Same goes for music and books. My wife's family is from TX and and I am about to read the boys the part of the Michener book, Texas, on Otto McNab, the first Texas Ranger. Should be fun.
Teaching kids things and watching them learn and figure things out for themselves is great fun and very rewarding - just been teaching my 9 yo lad how to make scrambled eggs in the morning.
I'm not sure how many on here are or aren't religious, so if you're not and you're not bothered you can skip over this last bit. As a Christian, I have learned a lot about God in my parenting experience. God has taught me much about Himself and how he relates to me as my Heavenly Father through my own parenting experience.
Children are a gift, cherish them!
