Mina has not convinced anybody, including Silva.
Iwobi has looked okay but he cost 30 million, so he should. Richarlison had shown potential, and Watford got him for 11 million, a year before we paid 3 times that.
Gomes is pretty good but hardly world beating.
Kean was an exciting signing but he looks as raw as you might expect.
The rest are a bit meh really.
The identity is young players who are technically gifted and quick. I like most of the signings, and players like Iwobi, Richarlison, Kean will have their off days. After international break away from home a likely time for off days.
Digne is by and large excellent, Delph will turn out to be alright, and was hindered by picking up an early booking. I suspect Gbamin will turn out to be quality as well.
Mina doesn't convince me yet, but maybe with time he and Keane can build a partnership.
Brands has off loaded a lot of dead weight, despite Koeman and Allardyce spunking billions on mercenaries (Gana excepted)
We are giving the likes of DCL a chance to develop, which may bite us, but I'm not panicking yet.
Personally I would have shown Schneiderlin the door after Lyon, and would probably prefer a slightly greater mix of English speaking players, but that apart it is a project and will take some time.
The lack of identity and character doesn't suggest that to he the case.
Silva will probably be the fall guy but surely Brands had to find adequate replacements for the established Gana and Zouma.
It's hard to defend a team that has shown so little character or aptitude in games away at Villa and Bournemouth.
Silva may not be messianic either but have the ins and outs really been so impressive? Struggling to see any identity.
