Re: Updated Nashville Story on Patsy
There is another tribute to Patsy Cline, a two-act play, entitled "Always...Patsy Cline", by Ted Swindley. It consists primarily of a two-woman show, and features a continuous flow of Patsy Cline songs sung by an actress/singer. It is done as a light comedy musical, and includes a country band that remains on stage throughout the performance. Manatee Players at Bradenton, Florida opens in a week with the show, which features very talented people. The play captures the ebullient and charming personality of Patsy Cline, and envelops its audience in the tempo and rollicking pace of the country music she represented. The play is published through a webstie www.alwayspatsycline.com. As a member of the Manatee Players company, I found the play very charming and electric, It is a tribute to her life and talent, and stays on a high note of appreciation, mentioning only in passing, her untimely death at 31, after a too-brief career of only six years, following her "discovery" on the Arthur Godfrey Talent Show. I mention this not as an advertisement for the play, but to call your attention to it, as a continuing tribute to a great performer, and the lasting popularity of her personality and musical talent.
