She and hubby have 2 sons, one is our sil and his family is our dau, and 2 granddaughters. The grands are 20 and 16. The last 2 yrs, she has given the 4 of them each an envelope at Thanksgiving with money, I don't know the amt, to buy what they wish for their Christmas gift or gifts from her and hubby. They are to bring the gifts wrapped Christmas day as she hosts at her home along with lunch. They get a thrill as they watch what each one has picked out for gifts as well those that shopped for their gifts. We usually join them later in the holiday so haven't been present since this started but our daughter says it has been so nice and fun, everyone is happy with the results.
It may not be for everyone but it has been a lot of fun for this family.
