Row house that was dark inside with run down painted, peeling steps outside. I was embarrassed by it. Dad wasn't well and never did any repairs. I learned years later than he came back from WWII with 'combat fatigue" as they used to call it. Today it's PTSD. I learned that many years later. We weren't allowed to have friends over and we had to be quiet. I didn't know something was wrong because that is all I knew. I thought all families were like ours.
