The light in sunsets and sunrises is especially beautiful because it occurs during the Golden Hour. And there's a scientific explanation. That's when the sun is so many degrees above the horizon (can't remember how many degrees) and this position of the sun and it's light traveling through our atmosphere filters out the blue light in the spectrum leaving just the yellows, oranges, reds and golds and makes things look especially beautiful, golden and magical. This phenomenon occurs twice a day...at sunrise and sunset. Then after the sun sets and goes behind the horizon at sunset, (and before sunrise in the morning), the golds, yellows and reds are filtered out of the spectrum and the blues in the spectrum take over and this muted, blueish light is called the Blue Hour.
When my old dog years ago had to be let out this early I got to see this change of light. It is really fascinating and most people miss this everyday!
