Interesting to find this thread today. WE are in our 4th day in a hotel as there is snow for the next 36 hrs and we don't care to drive in it. I went to the coffee room for a coffee and the lady that cooks the breakfast room was there, she is staying the night as she begins cooking at 5am and the roads will be bad. She asked me how old I was and I told her in a few weeks, I will be 78. She was shocked, asked if I drove and I told her yes. She said people as old as I am she sees as not driving, crippled, etc. She thought I was about 55 or 60.

I guess we are as old as our bodies allow us to be. So far, neither of us have aches and pains as much as many of our friends do. I think genetics have a lot to do with it.

My first retirement came at age 48, company was sold and cutbacks were by yrs of service, I was the bably with 19 yrs. Stayed home, took care of MIL for 6 yrs and went back to work in education for 5 yr.

Probably when Jim retired at 65 and I was 58 was the beginning of our travel in our new 5th wheel and new lifestyle and socializing. A very happy time.
