. . . airport is hearing that it was icing on the wings which put the learjet into a nose down position resulting in an overspeed condition from which it had no chance of recovering.

I've also heard that upon encountering a large storm cell, the pilots decided to fly above it rather than around it. And encoutered another and possibly unexpected storm cell at high altitude which probably caused the icing.

never ever ever get on a shitbox small aircraft of any type. Maybe I could be talked into a Cirrus since they have an airframe parachute, but that is it. No fucking way.

And those Lear jets don’t appear to do well with ice.

I’m wondering if instead of trying to climb if they would have gone down a few thousand feet if it would have had a different outcome.

Sad story. I’ve been anti flying private since that IND to BloNo crash after the 2015 basketball National Championship game (maybe off a couple years) crash that killed some IL St coaches and boosters.
