Some group is spending a lot of money to run an ad with Obama touting Maryland's ballot question #3. I have already seen it plenty of times from just watching sports, such as yesterday's football game.

The initiative would change the constitution to waive all state rules about creating Congressional districts, allowing unlimited gerrymandering, and override an amendment done in recent memory.

It may be the only competitive item on my ballot.

Obama says to vote for 3: "It lets Maryland draw its own fair maps."

He's lying about "fair" because it effectively disenfranchises portions of the state, just as gerrymandering does elsewhere. The natural alignment of Maryland would be either 6-2 or 7-1 (currently), not 8-0. No state of any significant size should be zero of one party and call that fair.
