but it blows my mind that people would pay 3/4s of a million dollars to live in that shitbox. Add in the awful traffic, shitty schools, California income tax, and crush of people and I just cannot comprehend.

I know the weather is fantastic, but that and the proximity to Disneyland fall short of overcoming the rest of the shortcomings.

It is crazy to me that those people don't just move to Nashville or similar and live a way better quality of life. Living in the Nashville burbs would give you the same commute time to the airport, actual space between you and your neighbors, good weather, 0% state income taxes, good schools, little commute time, less density, and a way nicer home for less money. Here are several homes $50-$250k cheaper that are larger, nicer, and fit all of the criteria above.

And i gotta tell you, i really like living in the pacific time zone.

Pacific timezone is the GOAT, for sure......but I'm not sure if you know this fun fact

suburbs also have restaurants and bars.

I can understand if someone wanted to stay on the West Coast though.....West Coast = Best Coast....but do these people know that they can move to Boise and live a better life with a 5X better home for the same price? My friends that live there were still swimming in their pool this past weekend. Also, it's mostly Californians there now (mainly Bay Area and SacTown refugees) so the vibe is the same.

Tucson and Flagstaff are other good options (but Flagstaff would be cold half the year). St. George might be too quiet but it's cool if you have an outdoorsy young family.

I love a spiral staircase but no door into the bedroom? get outta here. laundry in the kitchen. Get outta here. And my house is worth a lot more than that. But before anyone calls me bougie, i've owned this place for over 20 years. I couldn't first time buy in this market.

It could be a cool place…but you’d need another 500k of renovations…
