Whatever you may think of our involvement in Ukraine and Iran, it is becoming more and more apparent to me that both theaters are being regarded by the U.S. as necessary testing and practice for what seems like an unavoidable and perhaps imminent conflict with China.

Sure, on paper they are *scary word* Communists, but anyone who's been there will let you know that they are probably more Capitalistic than the US.

If I were President tomorrow, Russia and China would be huge allies within a week.

IMO, the only reason to go to war with China is over AI supremacy. Most people don't understand what is at stake on this front and control of AI may just be important enough to completely wipe out all other competitors. I understand that sounds crazy and harsh, but if someone makes the wrong decisions around AI, it may lead to the downfall of the human populace. Outside of that, we should be partnering with China to control the Globe.

How is it any different than Hong Kong?

Unless China says Taiwan can't export memory chips to the US, I'm not sure that we would care.

We have plenty of other footprints in Asia, plus Aircraft Carriers and Nuc Subs. Defense isn't an issue.

I'm not advocating that we let it fall under Chinese authority, but I doubt it would really matter if it did.

No one can match them right now. Not the U.S. Not China. And of course China is going to exert a stranglehold over that technology. We cannot afford that. The rest of the world cannot afford that.

I'd argue it's South Korea because that's who is making all of the HBM chips that fuel AI, but yes

taiwan is very close in chip importance. Again though, it's not like they are going to just shut down exports to the US if China takes control. They actively want us to buy more of everything. They'd love nothing more than to be our biggest automotive supplier, but we won't let them.

But I'll go back to my earlier point. If Taiwanese chips are so valuable that we can't possibly let China control them, then we need to eliminate China altogether. No other option. If we have valid concerns they cut off our supply, then it would be done in efforts to win the AI race and the risk of letting anyone else control that isn't allowable for the safety of the human race as a whole.

I'd rather partner with them and set the parameters.
