curtail their time to scam other Americans is the highest and best use of a person your mother's age time. I don't throw the word hero around lightly, but Saar, your mother is a hero.
I had one a few months ago who was trying to tell me that my Chase card had been hacked and he read off three transactions. I kept him going for almost five minutes until he needed to transfer me to another department. Then his boy came on. Reconfirmed the bogus charges, which I then changed and said one was legit and shouldn't be reversed, then he said he needed my card number to verify my identity. I gave him three different numbers that were all either one digit too long or too short to be a credit card number.
"Saar, I am holding the card right now and that is the number, I assure you! Give me your phone number and I will text you a picture."
Finally, he asked what was going on and I told him that I was part of an Interpol task force that needs time to route the VPN's to find his location and he hung up instantly. Of course it's derivative of every great 80's movie where they had to keep the bad guy on the line long enough to get a trace, but he didn't know that.
I did a lot of crank calling back in the day before Big Brother introduced Caller ID and this reverse crank calling is an absolute pleasure for a man with my training and skills. I truly love it. It's easy to spot because I don't have a Chase card and the Indian scammers only know of Chase.

Although I think at her age, there are better ways to spend your time.
There is a mindset in India that all Americans are wealthy and won't really miss any money stolen from them. Horrible culture.
