Such filthy places.

I can’t imagine ever living in a basement unit and having nasty water from the sewers come into it.

Feels like these issues were created many decades ago but still haven’t been addressed.

Many moons ago in Chicago, you'd want to "put the pipes in (your basement)".

Raise the level of water needed to get into the basement by about 4-5 feet.

Giant game of "screw your neighbor", but it was commonly done.
