But how many times in the course of the regular 162 game season does a team typically face an opponent who runs out of pitchers and has to put a position player on the mound? Particularly if we limit this to 9 inning games.

I feel like I have seen that happen this year with the Cubs more than I have seen it in any previous year.

The Tigers didn't run out of pitchers. They had plenty. But they didn't want to use them and wear them out in a game that was already lost.

I think it's shitty for the fans and should not be allowed at all.
