NYC and California are beacons in this country. Crown jewels, the absolute best we have to offer. There is a market price for this. That market price is the tax rate. They have overshot it by a wide margin in California. New York, I'm not so sure they overshot it, there's a price of poker to be there and taxing non-owner occupied high end housing isn't the end of the world.

In the case of New York I think the mayor wants to collapse the capital base there because he has motivations well beyond advancing Marxism.

vibrant area of growth across the entire globe north of the 38th parallel north. It's absolutely the crown jewel city of the United States and probably the entire West at this point. I get that it sucks with overcrowding, trash, rats, but it's still fucking New York City. People will absolutely pay a premium to be there.
