He's not good. He's a soccer player. It's like their 5th game and he had yet to put the bat on a ball at all. Last night, he put a ball in play. I must've looked like Charles Dutton clapping for Rudy.

Oh, and he pitched an inning too. Never done that before. He gave up a bunch of runs but at least he didn't walk them in. Threw strikes and the other team just hit and the fielders made errors.

On a side note, what are your annual club soccer fees for his age?

Our club fees are (IMO) way too low and I've been trying to convince the board to up them significantly. We're at about a 1/3rd of what Seattle clubs charge and I think it's silly we don't up the fees. They are reluctant because they want to "make it accessible", but we're in a relatively affluent area and 90% of the people would pay the Seattle numbers in a heartbeat without a second thought. My argument is to raise the fees and offer more training while also setting aside additional funds for more scholarship dollars.....and then cut out the other fundraising stuff like golf tournaments and the like.

My friend who has a 9.5 year old daughter has had the last 4 weekends: At Chattanooga, at elizabethtown, KY, at Louisville, at Elizabethtown, KY.

WTF?!

My 6 year old is showing some talent in soccer and baseball (basketball not as much). Want a step up from rec soccer starting in the fall, but the travel baseball (softball) seems absolutely idiotic. The classic drive 2-3 hours to play the same travel teams from your county multiple weeks in a row.

Seasonal games are generally done by area. Then club dependent, teams play at out of town tournaments. We play at 1-2 out of town tournaments a season. Nothing too bad.

I find most soccer clubs to be more tame than baseball/softball.

Is how the Indy11 dev leagues work. Although sometimes they have games on both days. They seem to stay within 30-50 mins of their home field.

Our local rec league is only 1.5 miles away but unfortunately the fall games are at 12, 1, or 2 pm on Saturdays (except for maybe 2 Sunday games in a 10 game season).

That pretty much rules out all but 1 or maybe 2 home Illini football games before 2nd week in November.

and 2-3 training sessions per week (more in the fall/spring, less in the winter). New uniforms every other year run about $250.

Fees increase moving towards High School as there are different leagues and Illinois/President Cup tournaments.

Same 2-3 training sessions/week. Our unis are the same scenario as yours.

I think $1,800-$2,000 would still be a steal for all of that. Seattle is about $3,600 for that age but tournament fees are on top of that.

11v11 jumps up by another $1k. I think our 11v11 goes to like $1,500 for the year.

I'm beating the bandwagon to add more coaching / and an extra training day and then to divert the additional funds to procuring our own fields and eventually an indoor facility.

Clubs don't do summer around here...but the club runs optional camps towards the end of the summer to get the kids back up to speed for Fall/high school try outs.

Including summer and 4 tournaments in your case - - that seems like a huge bargain!

Our club doesn’t do traditional tryouts. Anyone that wants to tryout is invited to practice and coaches evaluate them and where they fit or don’t fit with current teams.
