Coach Pearl's tradition of strong basketball and winning the National Invitation Tournament. Lot of people don't understand this, but you literally have to INVITED to the NIT, it's far more prestigious than the NCAA tournament, for which teams are "selected" on Selection Sunday.

I would like to see Auburn play these Final Four teams right now. They're hot. They would probably win the NCAA tournament.

first 2 years....and you would have to be a massive bust to be a 19yo who doesn't get the 3rd and 4th year options exercised, so it's pretty much a $31M guarantee over 4 years. Also, there is a great chance he goes #5, which would make the deal $41M over 4 years.

It would be an all time idiot move to stay in college both from a financial standpoint and also from a risk standpoint. As a 19y/o, it's almost impossible to improve his draft stock. He has to (will) go to the draft. He won't even attend another minute of classes either. From this point on, he's going to spend 100% of his time focused on getting drafted. College is so far in his rear view mirror.

that is partly because we were good. I imagine that helps, if even subconsciously. Partly because they all seemed nice/not a-holes? BUT had they not been winning, do we find their quirky traits annoying instead of funny? Again, that is why I am so interested to see how the whole "new players every year" thing goes if we are NOT good next year.

I really, really hope I continue to "buy in" to the new players every year, I suppose time will tell. That said, it'll never be like it was before emotionally..how could it?

I was one who said I didn't care near as much, as it still is somewhat true..I am not hurting this morning like I was years ago because there's is no 4 year "emotional investment" in these kids, AND I don't feel as bad for them like in the past, because I figure one glance at their bank acct last night eases the pain pretty quickly

05 was small and would have trouble with 26's size. We would not do well on the glass. But Dee and Deron would run circles around our guys. It would be an interesting matchup.

89 would beat the shit out of both teams. I often wonder who was better 89 Illinois or 90/91 UNLV. IMHO they were the greatest college basketball teams of my life time. And I was born after Bill Walton graduated from UCLA.
