And I believe the U.S. is currently working on a new service shotgun.

Also, there are "shotgun" 5.56 rounds which fire what are essentially small shotgun loads with pellets out of standard M4s and M16s. They are not yet commercially available in the U.S. but I have seen some people get their hands on them.
