I know nothing about Apple Airpods. I am participating in an angel tree gift program.

The kid I have asked for Apple Airpods Gen 2.

Is there any good reason not to just get him the latest Gen 4 version? Can he still use the latest ones with older devices?

get them gen 4. they are even better. my kids are that way. didn’t like the ones after gen 2 or the pros but love the gen 4 that are on sale now. the gen 4 sound quality is also better
